The 2027 Photography Calendar
WATER — A Collection of Moments
WATER is everywhere. Which, as it turns out, is both the good and bad
news when you decide to make a calendar about it!
Our annual calendar has always been an excuse to look a little more
carefully at the world around us. This year, water gave us plenty to look
at, and considerably more than we bargained for. It is deceptively
simple. Point a camera at a mountain and you get a mountain. Point it
at water and suddenly you have reflections, ripples, movement, light,
texture, shadows, weather, sky, boats, birds, people and a photographer
wondering whether the horizon is actually straight.
There is something rather familiar about water. We spend an
astonishing amount of time trying to control where life is going, only to
discover that it has its own plans. Sometimes the sensible thing is to
change course. Sometimes to keep going. Sometimes to stop fighting
the current. And occasionally, when none of that works, to simply blame
the weather.
These photographs are a collection of those moments—quiet and
turbulent, fleeting and enduring, playful and contemplative. Some are
about water itself. Others are about what happens when water meets
light, land, architecture, people and time. Together, they reminded us
that some of the most beautiful things are created not by standing still,
but by constantly moving.
Here’s to going with the flow—without necessarily knowing where it
leads. Wishing you a year full of reflections, possibilities, unexpected
turns and, preferably, just the right amount of rain.
